Step 1 — Position the unit
Place the unit on a flat, stable floor within 1.5m of a window and at least 50cm from walls, curtains, and furniture so the vents can breathe. Keep it near a power socket — avoid extension leads where possible.
Step 2 — Attach the exhaust hose
Twist one connector onto the back of the unit until it clicks, and the flat window connector onto the other end of the hose. Keep the hose as short and straight as you can — tight bends and full stretch reduce cooling performance.
Step 3 — Fit the window kit
Open your window slightly, wrap the fabric window seal around the frame and zip it closed, then push the hose connector through the zip opening. For sliding windows, use the adjustable slider panel instead: extend it to fit the gap and slot the hose connector into the opening. The goal is simple: hot air out, no warm air leaking back in.
Step 4 — Power on and set
Plug directly into a wall socket, press power, select Cool mode, and set your target temperature (we recommend 21–24°C). Close doors and windows in the room, and give it 10–15 minutes to pull the temperature down.
Window Units
1. Open the lower sash and place the unit on the sill, tilting it slightly backwards (about 1cm) so condensation drains outside.
2. Lower the sash onto the top of the unit to hold it, then extend the side accordion panels to close the gaps.
3. Secure with the included brackets and screws — never rely on the window alone to hold the unit.
4. Seal remaining gaps with the foam strips, plug in, and power on.
Above ground floor? Use the safety bracket and check the sill can bear the weight before installing.
Split Systems
Split systems contain refrigerant and require certified installation — in the UK, an F-Gas certified engineer must connect and commission the system. Your indoor unit position (high on a wall, clear of obstructions, near an external wall) can be planned in advance; the engineer handles mounting, pipework, vacuum and gas checks. Budget 2–4 hours for a standard install.
Getting the Most From Your Unit
- Seal the room: closed doors and windows make the single biggest difference to cooling speed.
- Block direct sun: closing curtains on south-facing windows can cut the cooling load dramatically.
- Clean the filter monthly: slide it out, rinse under lukewarm water, dry fully, slide back in. A clogged filter is the #1 cause of weak cooling.
- Use timer & sleep modes: cool the bedroom 30 minutes before bed, then let sleep mode hold a gentle temperature overnight.
- End of season: run Fan mode for 30 minutes to dry the inside, drain any residual water, and store upright with the hose detached.
Troubleshooting
- Not cooling well? Check the filter is clean, the hose has no kinks, and the window seal is fully zipped.
- Water warning light? Most units self-evaporate, but in humid weather the tank can fill — drain via the rear plug as shown in the manual.
- Unit won't start? Check the plug socket works, and wait 3 minutes after switching off before restarting (compressor protection delay).
